City of Mt Dora.... Change is Good!

Mt Dora Downtown Road Work

Donnelly Street Right-of-way Improvement Design
As part of the initial effort for improving pedestrian spaces downtown, the Mount Dora CRA has prepared plans for the sidewalk and streetscape improvements, for the block of Donnelly Street from 5th Avenue to 4th Avenue. The purpose of the project is to enhance the pedestrian areas, sidewalks, ADA ramps and crosswalks, but other improvements will also be made. The project includes replacing sidewalks, installing ADA ramps at corners, resurfacing of pavement, installing in-ground electrical service boxes for events, and adding antique street lamps and trees. This project is to be funded through a FDOT Enhancement Grant.

Donnelly Street Improvements are anticipated to begin July 1, 2014.

Downtown Streetscape ImprovementsThe Mount Dora CRA will construct streetscape, right of way, underground utility, and other related improvements in the historic downtown commercial core. The area includes nearly 200 businesses, several park areas and is adjacent to Lake Dora. The downtown area is active and attracts thousands of visitors. Because of these special circumstances, a highly qualified and experienced construction team has partnered with the city to ensure that this project is executed to meet the high standards of Mount Dora residents and visitors.

General DescriptionThe Streetscape Work Program will include the removal and/or installation of following elements: sidewalks, curbs, trees, landscaping, irrigation, antique street lamps, in-ground electric boxes, crosswalks with pavers, hardscape, ADA ramps, bulb-outs, milling and resurfacing of streets, parks, parking, storm water drainage facilities, potable water, sanitary sewer lines and services, and other features.

Primary Goal Improve walkability of the downtown area by increasing pedestrian access and safety, while strengthening the physical and visual connection between the downtown core and the Lake Dora waterfront.
